Our hatchery is capable of producing large quantities of clam larvae to fill our nurseries to their capacity near the end of the growing season. Bayfarm has been spawning and rearing Hard Clams or Northern Quahogs (Mercenaria mercenaria) for over 20 years. In our hatchery, the larvae are kept in sterile and controlled settings to ensure survival.

Larvae and post-set clams are fed cultured

microalgae, throughout their time in the

hatchery. Our broodstock have been selected

over the years to produce quickly-growing and

hardy offspring. We also spawn and rear

Atlantic Oysters (Crassostrea virginica).
